Maria Auxiliadora Ruiz Hernandez was Born November 11, 1988 and raised in Managua, Nicaragua. She moved to the US when she was fifteen and made it her goal in life to keep her Nicaraguan roots afloat in order to never forget where she came from. She also wants to show the world Nicaragua’s culture, folklore and idiosyncrasy. Maria found a way to show off her culture by dancing folklore with Chavalos Danzas por Nicaragua. She also works on several projects that help her community here and back home. Currently Maria wears several hats, she is an operation and safety manager for a transportation company, she is also Chavalos’ former secretary and now she is transitioning to be Chavalos’ treasurer and continues to be the cultural manager for Chavalos Danzas por Nicaragua.
